New York Fashion Week for the Spring Summer Collections of 2019 was super fun and exciting. No, it was not about cat fights or fashion induced labours. It was all about the fashion and the detail.
Speaking of detail, the Tom Ford showcase featured a lot of blacks, creams and mauves, with models in scarves and beautifully fierce make up. The leopard print blouses and blazers, finely packed hair and tassled skirts inspired me quite a lot, and the scarves were so smackin’. If I had a boutique, I’d have ordered like 20!

The Badgley Mischka- Spring/Summer 2019 was a delight. It featured beautiful mother daughter dresses, and flowery elements in different shapes, forms and sizes.
I am in love with this off the shoulder lilac dress with its flowery detail, the model’s flowy detail and dangly earrings.
The Disney x The Blonds Collaboration for a fashion line inspired by Disney’s villains definitely got my attention:) Paris Hilton walked the runway in a dress inspired by Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmatians.
I was super excited to see Maki Oh (Amaka Osakwe) showcase a line at #NYFW with her line inspired by Bukas and Joints in Lagos. A lot of the pieces had mesh, which to my mind refers to nylons you use to wrap whatever swallow you’re having. There were also pieces of adire in the mix and graphics “swiped from the menus ” at the bukas. I loved the sandals that all the models wore, this reminded me of pupils wearing kito sandals in primary school. Lol.
Bt-dubs, check out Maki Oh’s collection and others from Lagos Fashion and Design Week, 2017, day 4:)

I think my super highlight for #NYFW was Oscar De La Renta. The vibe was quite summery and laid back, with tassels and fringes, beautifully structured dresses as well as kaftans. It was an avalanche of mediterranean deliciousness, and ironically, thoroughly relaxing line to watch. I loved the opening and closing numbers of the line by the Hadid sisters.
These are a few of my favourite highlights from New York Fashion Week

I was so lucky to get to London Fashion Week earlier this year and got front row at Halpern. (Well, I stood behind an empty seat opposite the photographers and then nabbed it when no one came!) It ended up being the best seat I could have hoped for because all the models passed me to go to the photographers. Win win win! NYFW must be amazing.
