Hellurrrandom brings to you a series of posts that highlight the Runway Shows of another year of Lagos Fashion Week 2019 for SS20.
ORANGE CULTURE
This collection featured rich abstract art print, digital print, bright pops of colour in androgynous silhouettes. There were extra elements-pouches bright pockets, nets, hats, dramatic sleeves, cloth and leather belts, and gloves. The models wore sneakers.
Colour palette: purple, red, pinks, white, burnt orange, brown, gold, mint, teal, green.
ILI
The Ili Runway showcase was alive, with geometric print and vertical lines, jumpsuits, brightly coloured and well tailored suits.
Colour Palette: teal, indigo, mint.
RICK DUSI
Emerging brand, Rick Dusi featured a menswear collection with amazing, creative and smart vibes.
Pieces: damask, velvet and floral print suits, casual and sportswear, including play suits with pattern and pocket detail.
Colour palette: mint, sage, olive green, canary yellow, sky blue, rose gold, tan.
YUTEE RONE
This collection consisted of elegant and original feminine pieces in silk, taffetta and other material, with roushing and pleats to enhance the beauty of the collection.
Colour palette: wines, reds, pinks, peach, rose, lavender.
STUDIO 189
This unisex collection was an avalanche of patterns, including batik, stripes, polka dots. There was a mixing and matching of patterns carefully done to achieve a visually pleasiing aesthetic. The models rocked this showcase barefoot.
Colour palette: monochrome, pink, blue, purple, green.
JERMAINE BLEU
Jermaine Bleu sported a casual collection, with clothing in bright colours, in both western and traditional fabric.
Colour palette: pink, green, black, blue, white.
WUMAN
The Wuman Collection showcased the intersection between art and fashion, with its monochrome and bright abstract artistic illustrations digitally printed on or stitched to its fabrics in casual simplicity. This was one of my favourite collections.
Colour palette: white, black, yellow, carton.
LUANDA
This was a very simple collection in monochroms, featuring tulles, shirt dresses in compact cuts, with pleating and gathers.
BLOKE
This collection was called Family Tree, featuring digital prints of the word ‘family’ on some pieces, tree inspired cuts, fabric collages and beachwear in adire and other traditional fabrics, as well as knitwdar in rayon, metallic, cotton, and polyester. The models also wore one leg of their shoes.

DZYN
This was another artsy collection that had a couple of portrait pastiches, showcasing natural hair on its fabrics. There were also dramatic sleeves and embellishments, as well as abstract and geometric print.
Colour palette: purple, yellow, white, monochrome.
IDMA NOF
This collection consisted of silks, patterned fabric, aso-oke, dramatic ruffles and other elements. The models had classically styled hair and black tribal make up.
Colour Palette: magenta, mint, black, green, yellow.
SELLY RABY KANE
Senegalese fashion brand, Selly Raby Kane featured the collection, SRK Taxaw, consisting of masked motifs, velvet, heavy fringing in a variety of colours, weighted ankara vests, check on check pieces, plaid, fabric collages and so much more.
Colour Palette: red, green, blue, black, tan, white.
TOKYO JAMES
The Tokyo James collection was urban chic featuring power trenchcoats, silky headscarves, flower platterned suits, check on check pieces, leather waistcoats and pants, and flowy dresses for the ultra woman. The models rocked the looks with soigné and urban swag.
Colour Palette: bubblegum pink, black, green, grey, white, purple, peach.
