Day 2 of the Runway Showcases featured the following collections:
The Sunny Rose Collection featured laces, chiffons, ankaras, fringes and dramatic epaulettes and pocket detail. There were grecian themed ankara dresses, with long flowing capes, high waisted skirts, lace wrap dresses, jumpsuits, as well as eye catching fabric contrasts.
Colour Palette: red, yellow, green, white, brown.
Cynthia Abila had a couple of incredibly original pieces in this collection, with pleats, capes, asymetrical elements. There was an asymetrical butter coloured trench coat with a cape that was just delicious. and a burnt orange dress that had so much detail on its sleeves and ankara pockets.
Colour Palette: orange, brown, white, yellows, teal, rust.
I think I always talk about the impeccable tailoring of Clan, and this year is no different. This collection had a good number of olive green pieces, as well as reds, whites, teals, blues, tans, browns and blacks. The models were also stunning. Clan was playful with the buttons of some of its pieces, cutting the fabric and placing the buttons in an acute angular fashion, as well as with zips. The fabrics included cotton, rayon, leather and all that good stuff.
Bridget Awosika’s collection was soft, silky and feminine. The fabrics were definitely indulgent and every shade on the palette was pleasant to look at. Of course, my Hadid twinnies looked fantastic in their black and red ensembles.
Colour Palette: yellows, cornflower, orange, purple, rose, white, black, red.
This collection was a splash of the colours, hues and patterns of summer, with ultra feminine pieces.
Colout palette: blue, yellow, red, orange, teal, white, green.
This Malian debut collection was one of my favourites, with its depth of originality, and aesthetic contrasts in its varied batik pieces.
Colour Palette: Blues, blacks, orange, browns, peach, tan, monochrome, creams.
The Sisiano Collection called ‘Into The Deep’, featured fabric dyed in pastels, of pinks, blues, peach, yellows and purples sewn into an array of magnificent robes.
The Christie Brown Collection featured sophisticated fabric contrasts, dramatic sleeves, gypsy skirts as well as amazing fabric stitching and embroidery.
Colour Palette: white, black, brown, mustard, ecru, red.
The Odio Mimonet collection also showcased a high level of creativity, with pleats, roushing , layers, check on check pieces. The collection featured an array of fabric inclueing sheer, dry and french lace, aso-oke, cotton, polyester.
